COLLAGEN ENHANCEMENT INJECTIONS |
Dr. Sabean has been artfully injecting collagen to enhance people’s appearance and self-image since 1981, the first year Zyderm collagen was introduced, making him one of the most experienced and skilled practitioners using collagen in Maine. Dr. Sabean recently attended an international hands on workshop in Vancouver, British Columbia, on collagen and newer injectable fillers such as Restylane, Perlane, Hylaform which will be available in the US in the near future. These new fillers will supplement and offer alternatives to collagen implants. More information is available on these new alternatives on our web site. Over the last year, Doctor Sabean has treated many people with Restylane and Perlane, which now make up over 90% of the fillers/rebuilders he administers. Introduced in 1981and 1986, Zyderm® and Zyplast® injectable collagen implants have set the standard in filler materials for smoothing facial lines, wrinkles and scars and in providing lip augmentation. Treatments supplement the skin’s natural collagen, require minimal procedure time, and provide immediate results. Today, more than one million people worldwide have been treated with Zyderm® or Zyplast® collagen implants around the world in over 40 countries. Cosmoplast and Cosmoderm were introduced in the Spring of 2003 and are identical to Zyplast and Zyderm, but are of human origin and do not require skin testing before administration. Because of the increased safety of Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast, Doctor Sabean no longer injects Zyderm or Zyplast.
Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast implants are indicated for the correction of contour deformities of the lower layer of the skin in non-weight bearing areas, especially the face. These implants have been employed successfully in many areas of the body to correct distensible (non-fixed) acne scars; skin thinning from disease or trauma; frown lines between the eyes or on the forehead; nasolabial folds between the nose and corners of the mouth; rhinoplasty, skin graft or other surgically-induced irregularities; and other soft tissue defects.
Patients experience immediate, visible results. Treatment with collagen implants is an easy and effective way to smooth lines, wrinkles, scars, and to define the lip border. An immediate, visible difference in the patient's appearance may be achieved in one treatment session. Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast do not need to be skin tested prior to use and can be administered as the need or desire arises. Collagen implants are implanted intradermally through a fine gauge needle into the site at the best level needed for correction. Treatment with collagen implants consists of a simple in-office procedure that can be completed quickly and conveniently, even during a lunch hour. Most patients return to their normal routine immediately following the procedure. An ongoing series of customized treatments can preserve a look or help give you a look that is desired. These treatments are as easy and convenient as the first one. Rigorous clinical trials to determine the safety and efficacy of Zyderm and Zyplast collagen implants were conducted from 1976 to 1981. This data was submitted to the Food and Drug Administration and Zyderm and Zyplast implants were cleared for marketing in 1981 and 1985 respectively. No other injectable collagen implants currently on the market have undergone such extensive study. The formulation of Cosmoplast and Cosmoderm is identical, except the collagen is of human origin. More than one million treatments in over 40 countries have been administered with Zyderm, Zyplast, Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast implants. Concomitant treatment with Botox injections enhances the benefit of collagen injections by partially immobilizing the stresses on the collagen injection sites, allowing more effective incorporation of the collagen into the skin. Recent studies indicate that concomitant treatment or prior treatment with Botox increases the length of time the collagen implants last by 50-100% depending on the site treated. Zyderm, Zyplast, Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast are registered trademarks of Inamed Corporation.
