BOTOX COSMETIC FOR HYPERHIDROSIS

Hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating has been traditionally a very difficult problem to treat.  Drysol, some oral ganglionic blocking medicines and sympathectomy surgical procedures were variably effective in providing relief for difficult to cope with hyperhidrosis.  These treatments have been largely limited by side effects and inadequate responses.  Excessive sweating is a severe problem for those afflicted, limiting their social interactions, career choices and is often associated with depression and or low self-esteem.

Botox treatments represent a major breakthrough, providing safe, effective and frequently long-lasting relief.  It reduces sweating in the affected areas 85% and provides relief for an average of seven months in the axillae (armpits), six months on the face and five months on the hands and feet.  The affected areas are injected without anaesthesia in the axillae and face/scalp, with only mild discomfort.  Injections in the hands and feet are done under regional nerve block anaesthesia or topical anaesthesia with cryo-cooling or vibrators because they are painful without anaesthesia.

Dr. Sabean is successfully treating excessive sweating of the axillae (armpits), face, scalp and hands with Botox.  If you would like additional information, please visit www.sweathelp.org or call our office at 207-767-2146 for an informative brochure.  Your treatments may be covered by your insurance if your hyperhidrosis adversely affects you socially, personally or occupationally and if you have failed to experience sufficient relief with prescription topical treatments like Drysol.
