BOTOX COSMETIC TREATMENT - We were honored to recently be named a “National Training Center” for Botox instruction by Allergan Pharmaceuticals, the only site in Maine. We offer treatment in many areas that other local physicians do not. Botox offers temporary and very quick improvement in wrinkles of the forehead, eyes, mid-face areas, brow lift, lip lines, “jelly rolls” under the eyes, bunny lines, nose bobs, melo-mental folds, masseter hypertrophy, neck cords, horizontal neck lines, wrinkles in the décolleté and other areas. Now, Botox is also approved for treating hyperhidrosis. We treat excessive sweating of the axillae (armpits), hands, feet, face and scalp. Treatment success is long lasting and can significantly improve the quality of life. Migraine and Tension headaches with a muscular component also respond well to Botox treatments. We offer treatment with cosmetic consciousness in mind as well as clinical improvement in the headaches.
PEARL FRACTIONAL RESURFACING LASER – The First generation resurfacing lasers were non-ablative, requiring four to six treatments to achieve noticeable results. The second generation resurfacing lasers were CO2 laser-based, were ablative, but have been associated with excessive thermal damage to the skin and slower recovery, even though they require fewer treatments. The Pearl Fractional System was developed to combine the advantages of Erbium and CO2 systems, with equal or superior results, but minimizing the risk of thermal damage and recovery time. The Pearl system is the latest advance in skin resurfacing, achieving significant long term results for most people in one treatment.
JUVEDERM HYALURONIC ACID FILLERS – The Juvederm family is one of the most advanced fillers in the hyaluronan family of fillers, lasting longer and causing less discomfort and swelling with treatment than other hyaluronan fillers, because of more hyaluronic acid cross linking and a gel, rather than particulate consistency. The fillers include Juvederm Ultra and Ultra plus for superficial to deep wrinkles and Voluma for “volume “ correction. A version of Juvederm is available for correction of wrinkle and volume issues in almost all areas of the face, lips, hands, ears and other areas. We use more Juvederm fillers than any other for general use.
EVOLENCE – Evolence is the first advancement in collagen-based fillers in twenty plus years. It offers correction of moderate to severe wrinkling in the face, some volume correction in facial areas and the hands, with similar longevity to hyaluronic acid fillers. It is associated with less swelling and bruising than most other fillers. Evolence Breeze will be available shortly for lip enhancement.Product Lines

LASER GENESIS - a truly painless way to shrink pores, improve skin tone and texture, reduce rosacea flushing, redness, minor photodamage, wrinkles, improve acne scars, other scars and even acute rosacea and acne. The micro-second ND:YAG laser gently heats the mid portion of the lower layer of the skin with each treatment. Within a few treatments, results may become quite dramatic. This is the best system we have found for shrinking pores.
PHOTOGENESIS IPL - Of the newest Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) systems for treating blotchy, irregular skin tone, red blood vessels, brown sunspots, age spots and photodamage. It features built in cooling in the light delivery head, making treatments much more comfortable than most other IPL systems. It is also the most efficacious IPL system we have tried.
PROWAVE 770 IPL/LASER HAIR REMOVAL - This is one of the fastest and most effective hair removal systems available anywhere. It is uniquely tunable to individual skin types by changing wavelengths. In a recent study by Dr. Christine Lee, patients received three treatments and six months later had an 83% average hair reduction. She also compared ProWave to other IPL systems, Alexandrite, Diode and ND:YAG laser hair removal systems and the ProWave had more success in hair reduction than all the other systems. Until now, laser systems have been superior to IPL systems.

SCULPTRA® AESTHETIC - is a new facial injectable treatment that is intended for use in people with healthy immune systems as a one-time treatment regimen of up to 4 injection sessions that are scheduled about 3 weeks apart for correction of shallow to deep nasolabial fold contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles in which deep dermal grid pattern (cross-hatch) injection technique is appropriate. It works gradually to replace collagen that is lost during the aging process.

VBEAM PERFECTA LONG PULSED-DYE LASER – The VBeam Perfecta is the latest technological advance in pulsed-dye laser technology. It was designed to deliver superior treatment without the risk of bruising. The VBeam Perfecta is capable of treating facial veins, angiomas, hemangiomas, birthmarks, photodamage, brown spots, wrinkles, Poikiloderma of Civatte, dyschromias (discolorations), acne, acne scars, stretch marks, scars, localized psoriasis, venous lakes, dermatofibromas and many other things. LASER TISSUE TIGHTENING - Dr. Mark Taylor from Salt Lake City’s Gateway Aesthetic Center has recently shown in a split face and neck single treatment study done with Thermage and ND:Yag lasers, that the ND:YAG treated side showed equal or superior tissue tightening over six months compared to Thermage treatment, in every patient, with much less pain, expense and no downtime. We offer this exciting option in tissue tightening for the face and neck, but the Titan laser discussed above is generally superior in outcome in many fewer treatments.

FOTONA ND:YAG LASER HAIR REMOVAL - We also offer a laser alternative for hair removal that will work for any skin type or even if you have inadvertently been tanning prior to your treatment. Results are similar to the Alexandrite laser, among the best of any hair removal system and clearly superior to IPL hair removal, except for the ProWave 770 discussed above.
RESTYLANE AND PERLANE HYALURONAN INJECTION ENHANCEMENT - In our experience, Restylane and Perlane offer much more effective and longer lasting correction for wrinkles and facial contour defects than collagen fillers.
RADIESSE - A NEWER CALCIUM HYDROXYL APATITE FILLER - a recently approved filler for deeper wrinkles and volume replacement that lasts12-15 months, between Juvederm and Sculptra. It is compatible for use with other fillers, lasers and tissue tightening procedures. Unlike Sculptra, the correction is immediate. It is made up of very small particles of the material that comprises human bone and a gel and as the body reabsorbs the gel, the particles stimulate collagen formation to replace it, producing the prolonged effect. Radiesse has a 97% approval rating from patients six months after treatment in a recent study. FOTONA ND:YAG LASER TREATMENT OF FACIAL SPIDER VEINS AND LEG VEINS UP TO 4MM IN DIAMETER - Finally there is an alternative to sclerotherapy injection for the treatment of leg veins that is as effective. Until now, sclerotherapy of leg veins has been the benchmark for efficacy of treatment of leg veins. No longer! Facial spider veins or telangiectases can be effectively treated without bruising. Many of the veins disappear at the time of treatment. Even many of the larger bluish face veins that do not respond well to pulsed dye, KTP lasers or IPLs respond well to the ND:YAG laser!
SILHOUETTE/SILKLIGHT Liponic Sculpting TREATMENTS FOR CELLULITE - a great way to reduce the appearance of your cellulite and enhance your exercise and diet programs. LASER TREATMENT FOR ACNE AND ACNE SCARRING - The NLite laser recently received FDA approval for treatment of acne. The initial studies show a 50% reduction for mild to moderate acne with a single 5 minute treatment and 75% reduction with two treatments. The Fotona ND:YAG laser also offers another very successful option to treat active acne and acne scarring. Laser Genesis laser treatments are the latest laser treatment options for acne, acne scarring, with the added benefit of pore size reduction that is real. Our Long Pulsed-Dye laser is also approved for treating acne and is capable of delivering more energy without bruising to diminish acne and acne-related scarring. PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY FOR FOTOFACIAL, CHEST OR HAND REJUVENATION, SUN DAMAGE, SUPERFICIAL SKIN CANCER AND ACNE - Levulan is applied to the areas to be treated and an hour later the area is treated with an IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photoderm VL/PL or Pulsed Dye Laser (NLite or Photogenica V Laser) to activate the Levulan. It very successfully treats sun damage, including even more advanced pre-malignant sun damage, brown age spots, red veins due to photodamage or rosacea, superficial skin cancers, minor wrinkling, diminishes pore size. It can reduce even cystic acne 80-90% for up to two years. A successful program usually requires two to three treatments. This is the latest and most globally effective treatment for Facial Photorejuvenation. The average reduction in brown blotches is 75%, red blood vessels 75%, pre-malignant sun damage 90%, Acne 80-90%. When the NLite is used, it effectively reduces acne scarring and peri-orbital and peri-oral wrinkling. PHOTOFACIALS - PHOTOREJUVENATION - a series of painless laser treatments for facial redness, blotchy, uneven skin tone, sun damage and pore reduction with PhotoGenesis IPL, Laser Genesis, 3-D Facial and Neck Rejuvenation or Photodynamic Therapy These procedures provide nice adjunctive treatment to fillers like Juvederm, Perlane, Radiesse and Sculptra and Titan Lifts for the face, neck, brows, decolette, arms and abdomen. PHOTODERM VL/PL/HR IPL (INTENSE PULSED LIGHT ) TREATMENT - a major alternative to lasers for doing Fotofacials, red facial veins, Rosacea, brown age and sun spots, vascular birth anomalies, leg veins and to activate Levulan for Photodynamic Therapy. It is an effective alternative to Alexandrite Laser for hair removal. HAND REJUVENATION - for sun damaged skin on the backs of the hands we offer IPL and Photodynamic IPL treatments to restore a more youthful appearance. For “large” veins on the back of the hands, we offer sotradechol sclerotherapy. For adding volume to the backs of the hands to restore a youthful appearance, complementing laser and sclerotherapy, minimizing the gaunt appearance typical of aging, we offer Radiance, Evolence and Juvederm fillers. Results are immediate with the fillers, but showing maximal improvement two weeks post-treatment. CANFIELD SCIENTIFIC UV (ULTRAVIOLET) LIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY - evaluation which shows sun damage you cannot see with the naked eye.
